Elephant
This baby elephant flaps his big ears and runs! He likes to eat twigs and leaves one right after another, and when he gets hot he likes to spray water all over himself with his trunk.
Did you know baby elephant weighs 300 pounds when it is born? It grows for many years until it weighs from three to six tons. That is a lot of elephant! Elephants need plenty of water and food to get so big. They like to eat grass, leaves, fruits, and nuts. An elephant can easily eat 200 pounds of food a day without even getting a stomach ache!
An elephant's trunk is a very important tool. Elephants use their trunks to drink water, to pull leaves and twigs off trees, and to tear plants and grasses out of the ground.
When a mother elephant gets mad at her baby, she uses her trunk too. Can you guess what she does? She gives her baby a spanking!
¿Sabes que el bebé elefante pesa 300 libras cuando nace? Crece por muchos años hasta que pesa de 3 a 6 toneladas. ¡Eso es mucho elefante! Cuando una mamá elefante se enoja con su bebé, tambien usa su trompa. ¿Puedes adivinar lo que hace? ¡Ella le dá una paliza a su bebé!
